Industry Note:

Chain Makes Texas Deals

LHC Group Inc. has entered into a home health joint venture with 25-hospital Texas Health Resources and seven-hospital Methodist Health System "in an innovative model that will significantly expand the post-acute care company's operations in the Lone Star state," the Lafayette, La.-based chain says in a release.

Under the agreement, LHC "will work with both health systems to enhance home health services and facilitate better coordination of care delivery across their service areas, the company says.

Texas Health Resources CEO Douglas Hawthorne lauds LHC for its "strong track record of working with health systems to reduce avoidable readmissions and keep patients where they want to be -- recovering in the comfort of home," according to the release.

LHC also announced that under the new partnership, it has acquired the assets of Huguley Home Health Agency from Huguley Memorial Medical Center in Burleson, Texas. The agency will operate as Methodist HomeCare and will provide care to patients in Johnson and Tarrant counties, the chain says in a separate release.
