Industry Note:

Avoid Trouble With Therapy Reassessment Scheduling Tool

Having trouble coordinating therapist visits for the reassessment requirements that went into effect in 2011? A new tool from HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor NHIC may help. The tool gives examples for five different therapy scenarios -- one, two, or three therapy disciplines, hospitalization during treatment, and a therapy hold. When a patient is unexpectedly hospitalized on the physical therapy reassessment due date, "the PT must complete their reassessment on their first visit following the resumption," NHIC says in one example. The tool is at www.medicarenhic.com/providers/articles/TherapyReassessmentArticle.pdf.
