Would information on why Medicare is denying your claims help you improve in the future? If so, you may want to take part in a newly available regional appeals demonstration.

Medicare has expanded an appeals demo that it first used just for durable medical equipment suppliers, says Qualified Independent Contractor C2C Innovative Solutions Inc. on its website. “Under the Demonstration, selected provider/suppliers have the opportunity to participate in a recorded telephone discussion that will be included and considered as part of the appeals case file, prior to C2C’s reconsideration decision,” the QIC explains.

In the call, C2C “shall be specific in clarifying Medicare policies and requirements, educating the providers/suppliers, and identifying any materials, evidence, and/or documentation that would yield a favorable outcome as part of the reconsideration process,” it says.

The demo is available to providers in the Part A East QIC jurisdiction, MAC Jurisdictions J6 and J15 for home health and hospice. Info on the demo, which runs until the end of the year, is at www.c2cinc.com/Appeals-Demonstration.
