Industry Note:

Another Health System Sheds Its Home Health Agency

The University of Arizona Medical Cen-ter in Tucson is the latest hospital to shutter its home health program. UA’s HHA will close its doors by October, putting 36 employees out of work and causing more than 400 patients to seek home health services elsewhere, reports the Arizona Daily Star.

The hospital says it is concentrating on offering services not otherwise available in the community. The nonprofit UA Health Network, which experienced unprecedented losses in the most recent fiscal year, is in the midst of negotiating a deal with the nonprofit, Phoenix-based Banner Health Net-work, the Star says.
