Industry Note:

Another Guilty Plea In Houston Home Health Case

The administrator of five Houston-area home health agencies has pled guilty to $7.8 million in Medicaid fraud, according to the Department of Justice.

Idia Oriakhi, whose parents owned Aabraham Blessings, Baptist Home Care Providers Inc., Community Wide Home Health Inc., Four Seasons Home Healthcare Inc., and Kis Med Concepts Inc., paid kickbacks to patient recruiters and physicians for referrals and bogus certifications, the DOJ says. The agencies billed for Medicaid and Medicare for $10 million in services that weren’t medically necessary or weren’t provided at all.

Patient recruiter Jermaine Doleman has also pled guilty in the case, and RN Charles Esechie and Oriakhi’s father Godwin Oriakhi are scheduled for trial Feb. 6, Justice says. Idia Oriakhi is scheduled for sentencing April 20.
