Deaconess Home Health in Milwaukee has closed in the face of a Medicaid investigation, leaving workers unpaid and clients without services. A federal search warrant was served on the agency last month, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services suspended payments to the personal care services provider on April 18 pending the outcome of the investigation, says the Journal Sentinel.
"The company is in the process of trying to work through the cash flow issue that has been imposed by the suspension of payments by the state," Patrick Coffey, an attorney for Deaconess, told the newspaper. Managed care organizations also suspended payments. Deaconess served 2,400 residents in southeastern Wisconsin, the paper says.
