Industry Note:

3 Sentenced For Medicaid Home Health Fraud

Three people have received nearly nine years in prison sentences, collectively, after pleading guilty to a $3 million Medicaid fraud scheme.

George Epps, Abdulazis Warsame, and Amir Ahmed worked for Lifeline Home Health Services in Cleveland, says the Department of Justice in a release. They and others submitted false documentation to become an accredited home healthcare provider, forged physician documentation, and fabricated and billed for home health visits that had not taken place, the DOJ says. Ahmed also recruited patients by offering cash kickbacks, according to court documents.

Epps received 46 months in prison, Warsame 37 months, and Ahmed 27 months, the DOJ says. Two more defendants who pled guilty await sentencing in the case.
