Industry News:

NOE-Related Glitches Abound

Beware multiple hospice Notice of Election-related claims system glitches.

Glitch #1: “Hospice notice of change (TOB 8XC) is incorrectly returning to provider (RTP) with Common Working File (CWF) utilization edit U514A,” HHH Medicare Administrative Contractor National Government Services reports. The MAC is currently “working to correct hospice notices that incorrectly RTP’d with reason code U514A,” NGS said in an email to providers.

Glitch #2: Part A claims are suspending in error with reason code U5159, NGS also reports.

In fact, a number of reason codes “have been editing incorrectly on NOEs/claims” since the July 2018 Medicare claims system release, reports HHH MAC Palmetto GBA on its website. In addition to U514A and U5159, incorrectly editing codes include U5106, U5113, and U5181.
