Health System-Owned Chain Sells

Nonprofit Advanced Home Care has agreed to sell the its home health, specialty pharmacy, and infusion services to Louisville, Kentucky-based BrightSpring Health Service, High Point, North Carolina-based AHC says in a release.

BrightSpring, which is a parent company to a number of related companies, will operate the home health business as Advanced Home Health and the infusion and specialty pharmacy business as Advanced Home Infusion. AHC has 33 branches in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, and is a joint venture of 12 health systems in these areas, it says.

AHC earlier agreed to sell its home medical equipment business to Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania-based AdaptHealth Corp. “For many years, it’s been our plan to become a national company,” AHC CEO Joel Mills says in a release. “That has been increasingly difficult as many of the member health systems who own AHC have been sold or merged. We spent much of 2019 evaluating ownership options and believe this is the best opportunity for future growth.”
