A North Carolina federal court has awarded a nearly $3 million judgement against Compassionate Home Care Services Inc., owner Carol Anders, and her son Ryan Santiago for Medicaid fraud, according to a Department of Justice release.

Compassionate and Anders submitted claims for services that were provided in violation of Medicaid policies or not furnished at all, the DOJ says. “Worse, when the government began investigating, Anders and her son, Santiago, falsified hundreds of documents in an effort to conceal the fraud,” the release says.
