If you're having trouble enrolling or reenrolling

If you're having trouble enrolling or reenrolling in Medicare and NHIC is your Medicare contractor, you now have an extra resource. "Beginning December 1, 2010, NHIC J14 is pleased to announce the initiation of the Provider Enrollment Help Line," the Medicare contractor says. "This toll free number (888-300-9612) will lead you to a Customer Service Enrollment Specialist who will be able to assist with your 855 Application inquiries." The Provider Enrollment Help Line will help you resolve your complex enrollment inquiries, schedule an appointment, and receive individual assistance as you complete your PECOS Web Application, NHIC says. Be sure to have your NPI number handy when you call. Don't, however, use the new help line just to check on the status of your application. "For application status inquiries, please visit our website at www.medicarenhic.com and go to 'check enrollment status,'" NHIC directs.
