In Table 3 of the 2014 Home Health PPS Final Rule, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services lists the deleted codes most used in 2012. The top deleted codes used were:
1. 401.0 (Acute posthemorrhagic anemia), 26,547 episodes;
3. 578.9 (GI tract Hemorrhage), 23,650 episodes.
4. 560.9 (Unspecified intestinal obstruction), 12,860 episodes;
5. 577.0 (Acute pancreatitis), 8,033 episodes;
6. 493.21 (Chronic obstructive asthma with status asthmaticus), 7,765 episodes;
7. 575.0 (Acute cholecystitis), 4,728 episodes;
8. 567.22 (Peritoneal abscess), 2,715 episodes;
9. 562.12 (Diverticulosis of colon with hemorrhage), 2,699 episodes; and
10. 569.83 (Perforation of intestine) 2,610 episodes.
