Hurry! You have another few days to request late reporting for Period 2. A number of Provider Relief Fund reporting due dates are on the calendar this spring and summer — and some are on the move. Make sure you don’t miss one in the crowd. Starting May 9 plus 10 days: The deadline for providers to submit a Request to Report Late Due to Extenuating Circumstances for Reporting Period 1 passed in April, the Health Resources & Services Administration reminds providers on its PRF Reporting Requirements and Auditing webpage (see more details about that deadline in HCW by AAPC, Vol. XXXI, No. 13). But now requesting providers must monitor their email inboxes closely to take advantage of any granted requests. “Starting the week of May 9, 2022, providers who submitted a request will receive an email from UHG_HRSA@ProviderEmail.uhc.com if their request is approved, and must submit their completed report within 10 days of receiving the approval notice,” HRSA instructs on the webpage. May 18: “Providers now have an opportunity to submit a Request to Report Late Due to Extenuating Circumstances for Reporting Period 2 before May 18, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. ET,” HRSA says. (Reminder: Period 2 covers PRF payments received from July 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2020, which could be used from Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2021 and had a reporting deadline of March 31, 2022.) HRSA previously lumped the Period 1 and Period 2 requests together for the April deadline, but appears to have had a change of heart for the latter period. It also bumped the Period 2 Request deadline from the originally announced May 13 to May 18. June 30: June 30, 2022, is the last day to use PRF funds from Reporting Period 3. Providers received Period 3 funds from Jan. 1, 2021 to June 30, 2021. July 1: The Period 3 reporting period starts July 1, 2022, and ends on Sept. 30, 2022. Looking ahead: Remember, the last day to use funds for the Period 4 reporting period will be Dec. 31, 2022, reminds consulting firm The Health Group in Morgantown, West Virginia. “Many providers received Provider Relief Funds which have not yet been reported to HRSA,” The Health Group notes in its electronic newsletter. “Regardless of unreported COVID-19 PHE costs or not, we encourage providers to track expenses incurred as a result of the COVID-19 PHE,” it says. v Note: Links to PRF information are at www.hrsa.gov/ provider-relief.
