Question: We’ve just launched a Facebook page for our medical office. Do we need to post our Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) on our Facebook and other social media pages?
Answer: No, you do not need to post your NPP on social media pages, according to a June 10 blog posting by attorney Mary Beth Gettins of Gettins’ Law. However, you must post your NPP on your consumer website as well as in a clear and easy-to-find location at your offices.
Also make sure that you give a copy of your NPP to patients at their first service encounter (usually at their first appointment) and to anyone who asks for it, Gettins noted.
