A Detroit-area patient recruiter has pled guilty to his part in a $25 million fraud scheme. Clarence Cooper sold Medicare beneficiary information for $200 to $300 per patient to area home health agencies who used the info to submit fraudulent claims, according to a Department of Justice release. Cooper obtained the information from the beneficiaries.
Cooper sold the info to contacts at now-defunct First Choice Home Health Care Services Inc. and Reliance Home Care, among others. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced in July.
