Author of Obamacare Admits He Never Read His Own Bill

It's as crazy as it gets. When the healthcare bill that was signed into law by President Obama was being debated, a number of federal representatives and senators not only admitted that they hadn't read the text but also boasted of this fact. As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had (D-Calif.) said, "we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it."

Then it got crazier. We might presume that at least the people who wrote the bill would have some idea what was in it. But unfortunately even this wasn't the case with Max Baucus (D-Mont.), lead sponsor of the Senate bill that later became law. This he confessed later in a constituents meeting in the small Montana town of Libby, as reported by the Flathead Beacon, a local newspaper.

According to Baucus, reading a bill allocating nearly $1 trillion of federal funds was "a waste of time."
