According to a new report from the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), hospitals are using data garnered from EHR reports to help patients. Details: “As of 2017, 94 percent of hospitals used their EHR data to perform hospital processes that inform clinical practice,” indicates the ONC brief. “EHR data is most commonly used by hospitals to support quality improvement (82 percent), monitor patient safety (81 percent), and measure organization performance (77 percent).” The report looks at a variety of facility types from small, rural clinics to large, urban hospitals, measuring the different ways EHR data is used based on the size and scope of the organization. The data homes in on EHR use between 2015 to 2017. Take a closer look at the ONC report at www.healthit.gov/sites/default/files/page/2019-04/AHAEHRUseDataBrief.pdf.
