Question: I’ve recently heard the term “promoting interoperability” regarding the QPP program — could you explain what that is? Codify Subscriber Answer: CMS revised all of its Quality Payment Program (QPP) materials on May 11 to reflect the renamed Merit-Based Incentive Payment Program (MIPS) technical component, Promoting Interoperability, or PI for short. Much of the language and guidance remains the same but is now tweaked with new PI wordplay. A “Frequently Asked Questions” section has been added to shed light on the PI transitions, categories, and more.
