READER QUESTION:

Find Latest NCCI Edits Online

Question: Are the latest National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits out yet, and if so, how can we access them? Out office always seems to forget about the edit updates until we get a denial, and we'd like to try to avoid that this time.

Oregon Subscriber Answer: Yes, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has released National Correct Coding Initiative version 10.3. This latest version of the code edits went into effect official Oct. 1, and the edits are online for your perusal.

The NCCI edits are posted as a spreadsheet, allowing users to sort by procedural code or effective date. The Web page also includes links to documents that explain the edits, the NCCI Policy Manual for Part B Medicare Carriers, the Medicare Carriers Manual, and the NCCI Question and Answer page.

The NCCI edits are posted at http://cms.hhs.gov/physicians/cciedits/default.asp.

The Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Look-up is on the Physicians Resource Page,
