Question: I recently had a chart where the patient presented to ER with knee pain, three months status post knee replacement. My physician documented the diagnosis chronic post-op knee pain. Would I be correct to code 338.28? South Carolinas SubscriberAnswer: Yes, ICD-9 code 338.28 (Other chronic postoperative pain) would be appropriate choices to report.
