Question: Are non-par providers not subject to Medicare audits/ reviews?

Answer: Medicare audits and reviews can befall anyone, including the non-par or participating (par) status physicians. CMS audits/reviews are intended to protect Medicare trust funds and to identify billing errors so as to alert providers and their billing staff to errors and educate them on how to avoid future errors.
