Reader Questions:

Don't Report Insertion or Femoral Angio

Question: My cardiologist has recently started using an Angio-Seal device on patients having heart catheterizations. Am I correct by not reporting the cardiologist's insertion of this device or the femoral angiogram that he performs prior to its insertion?

California Subscriber Answer: Yes, you are correct. You should not report the insertion or femoral angiogram. These services are included with the catheterization procedure (such as 93510, Left heart catheterization, retrograde, from the brachial artery, axillary artery or femoral artery; percutaneous).
