Question: What is the diagnosis code for Q-wave myocardial infarction (MI)?

Idaho Subscriber Answer: Depending on the site of the MI, you should choose from codes 410.0x-410.9x, excluding code 410.7x (Subendocardial infarction), which is for a  non-Q-wave MI.

FYI: Cardiologists may refer to Q-wave MIs as STEMI (ST wave elevated myocardial infarction) and non-Q-wave MI as NSTEMI (Non ST wave elevated myocardial infarction).
