33366 Takes the Place of 0318T Next Year

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) coders, take note. These procedure codes will be grouped in one place in 2014 when CPT® moves the transapical approach code from Category III to join its fellows in Category I under 3336X:
- 2013: 0318T, Implantation of catheter-delivered prosthetic aortic heart valve, open thoracic approach, (e.g., transapical, other than transaortic)
- 2014: 33366, Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR/TAVI) with prosthetic valve; transapical exposure (e.g., left thoracotomy).
