Question: We used to submit anesthesia code 00740 for our services associated with 93312, 93320, and 93325. The claims were paid, but I do not think that code is correct. We switched to 01922 and now Medicare is denying the claims. How should we approach coding for anesthesia in the office and the TEE procedure?

Answer: The appropriate anesthesia cross code for anesthesia provided during TEE (transesophageal echocardiography) is 01922 (Anesthesia for non-invasive imaging or radiation therapy).
