Make the Best Choice for Anesthesia During 61070

Question: A patient needed anesthesia for services reported with 61070 and 75809. What anesthesia code should we report? Arizona Subscriber Answer: Report 01935 (Anesthesia for percutaneous image guided procedures on the spine and spinal cord; diagnostic). Unless this is a pediatric patient, your staff should be prepared to explain why anesthesia services were medically necessary as adult patients don’t typically require anesthesia during the service of 61070 (Puncture of shunt tubing or reservoir for aspiration or injection procedure).
