Reader Question:

Fluoroscopic Guidance Is Part of 0275T for PILD

Question: Can we report fluoroscopy during PILD in conjunction with 0275T?

Maine Subscriber

Answer: The PILD procedure (percutaneous image-guided lumbar decompression) is performed under x-ray guidance (either fluoroscopic or CT). As you’ll see from the descriptor, fluoroscopy is included in 0275T (Percutaneous laminotomy/laminectomy (interlaminar approach) for decompression of neural elements, (with or without ligamentous resection, discectomy, facetectomy and/or foraminotomy), any method, under indirect image guidance (eg, fluoroscopic, CT), single or multiple levels, unilateral or bilateral; lumbar). In addition, CCI edits bundle fluoroscopy into the service of 0275T. Therefore, you cannot separately report fluoroscopic guidance during PILD.
