Question: Our anesthesiologist went in to do a CABG case that began at 7:10 a.m. The patient had a bladder neck contracture so the surgeon cancelled the CABG at 8:05. They were back in surgery at 9:05 a.m. to do a cystoscopy. Can we bill for the cancelled CABG or do we just bill for the completed case?

Answer: The patient will likely be re-scheduled for the CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) case. You should be able to charge for the cysto case and all related time, based on the documentation. Anesthesia time would start as usual for the scheduled CABG case and the remaining time will depend on the documentation.
