News Brief: Annual APC Update

APCs have received the first annual update from HCFA for 2001. Like the annual physician update, it has a conversion factor adjusting payment. The factor for 2001 for APCs is $49.596, which equals a 2.3 percent increase.

This update was published in the Federal Register on Nov. 13. To access the Federal Register go to http://www.access.gpo.gov. From there use the Quick Links to go to the Federal Register. Then use the Browse Feature and look for the Federal Register Table of Contents and click on 2000. This will give you the option to choose any date from the Federal Register; to see the update choose Nov. 13 and scroll down to the section on Health Care Financing Administration for the 2001 annual update.
