Reader Question: Two or More Injections
Question: Can I include more than one unit when billing code 95117?
Arizona Subscriber
Answer: 95117 (professional services for allergen immunotherapy not including provision of allergenic extracts; two or more injections) is always coded with one unit only, regardless of how many injections are performed. However, some carriers will tell coders that to process the claim, they must put a 2 in the units box. If that is what the carrier requests, make sure to get it in writing, because it violates CPT coding principles.
