There are various methods to prepare for our exams, from preparation courses geared for beginning coders to study guides, practice exams and review classes for those with strong experience in coding. In all cases, any examinee should strongly consider taking our online practice exams as an accurate way to measure readiness for the actual exams.

Local Chapter Sponsored Examination Review Classes
Although limited in availability, review classes are offered by AAPC local chapters as an additional means to help prepare for our exams. They are generally one day and range from three to eight hours in length.

Note: As the curriculum is not often produced by the AAPC, the quality of the review classes can vary from instructor to instructor.

Practice Exams
AAPC practice exams mimic the actual exams in question format, difficulty and structure. Being online, rather than printed out (like the actual exam), you have the freedom of taking them whenever you want, timing yourself (to prepare for the pace of the actual exam) and automatically grading your exam to see not only which answers were correct and incorrect, but rationales for each of the questions (so you can learn from your mistakes). You can also retake the practice exams as many times as you'd like.

Simply put, AAPC practice exams offer absolutely the BEST means to gauge your readiness for the actual AAPC certification exams.

Learning Method Description
Distance Learning: Online Courses - Put your home computer to good use and learn medical coding and billing online in just a few months, at your own pace, with coaching assistance.
Classroom Learning: Classroom (PMCC) - Do you learn better in a classroom environment with a live instructor? Classes range from beginning to advanced and from a few days to several months. Find a class near you.
